Service Always Incorporates Learning
by temasek junior college alumni service learning wing

I serve you so that I can learn from you.
You accept my service so that you can teach me.

We partnered Beyond Social Services in serving the local community. Being involved in one of their programmes, "LIFE programme" provided us with the opportunity to conduct activities for children from needy families. These skills came in useful when we conducted activities with children in Cambodia.
Project SAIL IV
SAIL IV donated a total of 28 toilets & 340 water filters to village Baray Kaet. Apart from that, we conducted hygiene workshops as part of our school activities. We hope that through our efforts, the beneficiaries have an improved standard of living and hygiene.

Cultural exchange.
We had great opportunities to interact with the villagers through a cultural exhibition, dinner exchange with the villagers, as well as home visits. This allowed us Singaporeans and Cambodians to better understand one another!
We collaborated with Cambodian school children on a social enterprise project. The project is a first for SAIL and we hope that it will be a success! Funds raised will be channeled to other community projects in village Baray Kaet.

In June 2011, we embarked on a 16 day expedition to Kampong Sleng, Cambodia. In the earlier part of the year, we did fund-raising via the sales of choco-flakes snacks, as well as Chinese New Year goodies. The expedition lasted two weeks and in that two weeks, we built a total of 12 toilets and 5 wells, and donated a total of five cattles, 60 water filters, 200 sets of stationery and toiletries.
